<\/p>\n
2021 Changes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- All categories acknowledge work in both the virtual and \u2018live\u2019 environment.<\/li>\n
- Entry criteria and questions have been changed to allow for COVID 19 limitations and to streamline the entry process.<\/li>\n
- The addition of 2 new categories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
<\/p>\n
STANDARD ENTRY REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\nStage 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Simple questions, recorded video and submission of some basic information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Stage 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Site visits and mystery shoppers will occur if Covid-19 levels allow.<\/li>\n
- Facilities: Entry questionnaire, submission of facility data and evidence, NPS Survey sent to customers, third party feedback, mystery shopper\/site visits.<\/li>\n
- Individuals: Entry questionnaire, submission of relevant data and evidence, video submission, third party feedback.<\/li>\n
- Other categories: Entry questionnaire, submission of relevant data and evidence, third-party feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Finalist:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Site visits and mystery shoppers will occur if Covid-19 levels allow.<\/li>\n
- Facilities: Interviews, mystery shopper\/site visits, third party feedback, facility and service spot checks.<\/li>\n
- Individuals: Entry questionnaire, submission of relevant data and evidence, video submission, third party feedback.<\/li>\n
- Other categories: Interviews, mystery shopper, third-party feedback, service spot checks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Facility Awards<\/strong> <\/u><\/p>\n\n\n\nChain\/Group Facility of the Year:<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is for facilities where the operation is part of a larger chain or group but there is some management control within the business, as well as central support.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nFranchise Facility of the Year:<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is for facilities where the operation is part of a franchise \u2013 where management and control is set from a head office and\/or central system.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nIndependent Facility of the Year:<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is for facilities that is a stand-alone business where management and system are within the facility structure with no external support from a related chain or other businesses that operate under the same\/similar name.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nStudio Facility of the Year:<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is for small PT studios, specialist facilities or businesses: Eg Mindbody Studio, PT operation, Specialist services (inc Rehab and allied health as long as the main service is exercise based).\u00a0\u00a0 In studios with membership (a set price for ongoing service), there is a maximum of 500 members or clients at the time of entry.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n <\/p>\n Individual Exercise Professionals Awards<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\nPersonal Trainer of the Year*<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is for experienced trainers offering an excellent service for their clients and running a successful PT client base. Open to any personal trainer (working as either as a contractor or as an employee).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nUp and Coming Personal Trainer of the Year*<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any trainer or personal trainer who has been working, as either a contractor or employee, for less than 2 years at the time of the closing date of stage 1<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nGroup Trainer of the Year*<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any trainer providing group training style sessions.\u00a0 (Group training involves a small group following a set series of activities and structured programme. e.g. \u2018bootcamp\u2019. Trainers working with larger groups are welcome as long as trainer\/ participant ratios are managed).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nOutstanding Support Award*:<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any individual working in a support role in an organisation or facility. Can be in an employed or contracted role.\u00a0 Entrant may be in admin, management or customer support role, the defining factor of the category is that the entrants work supporting those who work on getting people active.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nOutstanding Leadership Award New for 2021<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is for those working in the exercise industry who are going above and beyond, showing leadership and supporting growth through professional development, industry support or education. This category is for you if you lead a team, contribute to industry growth or have been involved in a project that has resulted in significant improvement to the lives of NZers.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nGroup Exercise Instructor of the Year\u00a0 \u2013 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Pre-choreographed*<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any group exercise instructor teaching any style of group exercise that is pre-choreographed (i.e. the choreography is pre-set by someone other than the instructor).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nGroup Exercise Instructor of the Year \u2013 Own Choreography*<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any group exercise instructor teaching freestyle group exercise classes based in an exercise business or independently (i.e they are responsible for the structure and choreography of the classes).\u00a0 Includes land and water-based instructors and mindbody classes including Pilates.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nYoga Teacher of the Year**<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category acknowledges Yoga Teachers within exercise facilities, studios and independent settings who integrate both body and mind practices into their sessions, offering students a holistic experience of wellness.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nEducator of the Year^<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any person who supports exercise professionals in either a lecturing, training or mentoring role. The role may be at qualification level or in ongoing education. Includes non-NZ based entrants but they must be working in New Zealand, and have made a significant impact on the NZ Exercise Industry.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nStudent of the Year*<\/strong><\/td>\n| This category is by nomination only (by the students\u2019 REPs registered education provider).\u00a0 The student must complete the entry process once they are nominated.\u00a0 The student must be studying (full or part-time) at a REPs Registered Initial Training Provider within the award year.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nCommunity Instructor NEW!!<\/strong><\/td>\n| The emphasis in this category is that exercise participation is encouraged in a population that would normally find such exercise difficult to access. Can be one on one or group instructors. This category is for those working with special populations or participants who may not normally have access to exercise. (may include low\/no cost options, services for groups with special exercise requirements or outcomes). The winner will be teaching classes and running sessions that are adapted to the unique needs of the participants.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n <\/p>\n Programme Categories<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nProgramme Excellence Award*<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to any individual or organisation delivering a comprehensive, structured programme involving exercise, nutrition or other lifestyle interventions and client support for an extended time period. The programme may be face to face, online or a combination of both. Can include a programme that participants complete individually, or as a group.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nCommunity Contribution Award#<\/strong><\/td>\n| Open to organisations.\u00a0 The emphasis in this category is that exercise participation is encouraged in a population that would normally find such exercise difficult to access (may include low\/no cost options, services for groups with special exercise requirements or outcomes). Must have been operating for a 12mth minimum period. The Community Contribution category can only be won once. Groups or chains cannot enter other clubs with the same programme in future years.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n <\/p>\n Special Awards<\/strong><\/p>\nEntries in these categories are not possible, however, you can nominate someone to be considered by the applicable organisation.<\/p>\n \n\n\nPeoples Choice Award<\/strong><\/td>\n| Based on nominations – the top 10 nominees are invited to submit a profile and photo.\u00a0\u00a0 Those who wish to take part are put up for a public vote to decide the winner of the category.\u00a0 Entry is limited to REPs registered individuals.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nExerciseNZ Award<\/strong><\/td>\n| This award is open to any individual or organisation, recognising their outstanding contribution to the industry.\u00a0 This award is chosen by the Exercise New Zealand board.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nREPs Award<\/strong><\/td>\n| The REPs award is presented to a role model that reflects the ethics and values of exercise professionals\/facilities in New Zealand.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nSkills Active Awards<\/strong><\/td>\n| All winners are nominated by Skills Active staff and the winners are selected by the Skills Active Senior Management Team. Manukura Award \u2013 for an individual and the Te Iti Kahurangi Award \u2013 for an organisation<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \nYoga New Zealand Award<\/strong><\/td>\n| This award is for Outstanding Contribution to the Yoga Community. \u00a0The winner will\u00a0be determined by the YogaNZ Yoga Council.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n <\/p>\n Entry Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\nFor each category marked with a special symbol, the following entry criteria apply<\/p>\n *\u00a0 REPs Individual registration is required<\/p>\n ** YogaNZ or REPs Yoga Teacher registration required<\/p>\n # REPs registration may be required depending on who delivers the exercise advice<\/p>\n ^ If the entrant runs courses, the course must be a REPs approved CPD \/ Initial training provider. REPs individual registration is also required for any entrant who also prescribes exercise to the public (e.g. is a PT as well as an educator).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Please Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Entry into the Exercise Industry Awards is a staged process, with judging occurring at each level, the specific entry requirements are listed below.<\/strong><\/li>\n
- All entrants are notified whether they have been selected for the next level with details of next stage process issued to successful entrants.<\/strong><\/li>\n
- All categories require a formal entry from the individual or person within the facility\/ program, a nomination does not automatically mean you are entered.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
