Judges Comments: An educator that has come in to support and embrace the NZ exercise industry through training and development of professionals beyond the physical aspects of exercise
programming.

Judges Comments: If every programme was this successful – NZ would be a lot healthier. The programme had great participant support and showed real care and attention from our winner.

COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE AWARDS – Parkinsons Exercise Class at YMCA Upper Hutt & Tangata Atumotu Trust Physical Activity Classes.

Judges Comments: Both our winners were directed by the needs of a specific part of their community, giving examples of true community outreach, combined with industry standards.

SKILLS ACTIVE – MANUKURA AWARD – Neil Wagstaff

Manukura is simply translated as a leader or person held in high esteem.    A significant aspect, that can’t  be simply translated is that to be pronounced a ‘manukura’ requires the support of people around you, and the people you work with.  It is a position of mana and a reflection of your work and how you are regarded by those around you.


SKILLS ACTIVE – TE ITI KAHURANGI AWARD –  The Achievement Room 

Te iti kahurangi is the pursuit of excellence, and is taken from the very famous whakatauki. ‘proverb’ – (Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tūohu koe, me he maunga teitei) which is… pursue excellence – should you stumble – let it be to a lofty mountain.
